Well I came across this website at http://new.myfonts.com/WhatTheFont/ that helps you do just that. You can take a small snapshot of an image that has the font you want to identify, and upload it as a .jpg (or other formats I guess). It then shows you what letters it thinks it recognizes, then shows you what fonts match closest. It's just really, really neato. So neato that I decided to share it with you all.
Now you know!

I had to match a font for a client's business cards, and I clipped a small .jpg and uploaded it and the site identified it straight up. It was super cool. Then all I had to do was find a pir8e w4r3z site in India to get the font from (j/k!)
