"How did we get so far from home, Newt?" said Catharine.
"One foot in front of the other--through leaves, over bridges," said Newt.

i read perhaps more than I should. by this I mean that there is always something more important that I could be doing.. or that perhaps I enjoy reading so much it leaves me feeling a bit guilty.

almost...

anyway if I was ever to write a short story I would want to do it like Kurt Vonnegut does. the problem is that he has already done it so very, very well.

The excerpt above is from "Long Walk to Forever", one of the several fine stories in Mr. Vonnegut's "Welcome to the Monkey House". All of them are sublime. If you would like to finish the story, here is a link ... it is very short and wonderful and I believe the author will forgive.

  • Mood: Love
  • Reading: Welcome to the Monkey House
  • Watching: Catch Christie Love
  • Playing: my sweet guitar
  • Eating: the skin from off of my teeth.
